"The promo's have changed a bit. I havent released it yet, but I've made so much tracks that I found it kinda weird not to get those out. So I made 2 B-more promo's - I have been so inspired lately! This is my first Dubstep Promo. It never got on a blog or anything, just here on Youtube on an awesome Dubstep channel called DubstepTunez. It got +/- 7500 views now between all the tracks and I was so glad to see it was received well!"
Here was the very first attempt on the idea of an monthly promo EP, each time in a different genre. Focusing on something that completely blew my mind when first hearing it - Dubstep. Before the US takeover with Skrillex, the more agressive type of stuff that Rusko made and what Dubstep eventually became known for, it used to be more stripped down without the excessive "decoration". It was Loefah's sound in particular that really inspired me to even try to make it. Man... going those parties in '08/'09 - special shoutout to Subway labelboss Nicon! Hearing Benga and Skream live for the first time was already mindblowing, but after experiencing both sets I didn't expect anything that could even match that. On came Nicon to completely demolish my presumptions, dropping a fatality of a set on everyone in the crowd that night. Finishing it off with Noah D's Seeeriousss - still my favorite Dubstep track ever since.
"Forbidden Fantasies"
With 'Forbidden Fantasy' I tried to explore Dubstep's deeper
side, focusing on the rather hypnotizing effect it had on me when going to the parties in '08/'09. The track revolves around a deep slow wobble carried by a rough recording of an African tribe's percussion work with added sexual tention inspired by Baile Funk's putaria. Call it Porn-step I guess?"
"Lost in Insomnia"
I always liked to put everyday noises in tracks. In 'Lost in Insomnia' I did just that. Layering it in the intro - picturing a rainy day while getting in the car, turning the radio on and just cruise in the unknown of the night. The track is about patiently waiting and being prepared. Hibernate until it actually happens. At this point I was asleep and I wondered if it finally was time to awake. Reason why the track wasn't completed and just fades away, is because I wasn't able to complete something while I still wasn't.
Listen to this with headphones, since I used the concept of stereo bass here. After hearing the track on my dude Stoijkovic's sound system it completely blew me away and it was the only way it could do the track justice.
"Select Your Destiny"
This was thought of within the concept of making your own world materialize. Instead of living in a reality, you live in your own reality where you decide the outcome of things. The darkness represents what uncertainty brings, which within lived reality you compromise to. The track itself represents the battle to get out of that settled mindset. This also being a track that is destined to be unfinished - after leaving the previous reality of what you percieved as truth, there's a brand new reality just waiting to be explored.
Which leaves a 'To be continued...' vibe everytime I listen to it.
"Sub Rockin' "
Heavy, dark, minimal and simplistic. Like all the tracks it all revolves around the sub bass. What would I call this? The no-bullshit Dubstep, straight-to-the-fuckin-point Dubstep, 0-tolerance-anti-PC Dubstep. With a tense reverb'd-out ambiance guiding the big 808 kick, I would say that this was the track that was inspired most by the boss himself - Loefah.
"Murder Sound"
Between this and 'Baltimore Dub' it was my experimentation with the Dubstep vs. Baltimore Club clash or how I called it - Bmore Dub. So picture my disappointment when I saw Benga's video of his Baltimore Club patterned track when I was still figuring out how to promote my new sound lol. The only track on the EP that had that more Rusko-ish vibe to it and my first experimentation with making my own wobbles! :D This track was the original to the later released 'Murder Sound VIP' on T&A Records and collaboration with M.I.A. on the VIP's 2nd version.
"Nu Ga Je Danse" is one of my favorite tracks ever. One of the Bubbling House classics, best showcasing the era's style/sampling. De Schuurman's sound finally getting long overdue recognition! Selegna Records
We've guided Nazar's in developing his sound. Keywords: Justice / Kuduro / Glitch / Angolan War. Contrasting this, his beautiful ambient works. 3 EP's and this masterpiece was conceived. Fantastic! Selegna Records
