MUNCHI - BALTIMORE CLUB PROMO
SELEGNA RECORDS | [SEL-PR002]

Since this was the 2nd promo EP I released, I was still kinda figuring out everything. After putting out several tracks on Youtube that were received quite well, I compiled them into this EP. Youtube was the main outlet to promote my stuff and I just started to know about the existance of blogs lol! Completely obsessing on the tracks of Tameil, Tim Dolla and Sega. It was so stripped down and raw in contrast to the polished up sounds that dominated the airwaves. It was really refreshing to hear something that was so straight forward in it's intention, in contrary to the into/build/drop template. It completely changed my perspective in a manner that Reggeton, Baile Funk and Breakcore also managed to do. Mixing it with several of my own influences, while trying to keep the elements of what makes Baltimore Club music intact and most importantly not overproducing anything. Keys that I held extremely important, considering the tendancy of bigger artists seem to have. Completely disregarding the value of what makes a style of music, just to jump in on a hype "in time".

"Baltimore Banger"

Haha, I remember making this. Asking my dude Danilo all the time:
"Yo, is the progress of this track alright?"
"And what about the mastering?"
"You sure this is club worthy?"
The sample is obviously the '20th Century Fox' theme.
A lot of choppin', doubting and Dutch influences - this is what you get. BOW!

"Puerto Rican Pussy VIP"

The reason why I made this 'Puerto Rican Pussy VIP' is because the Youtube comments on the original weren't positive lol. They said it wasn't Baltimore Club enough and who was I to disrespect the genre. So in the end it worked out, because we both liked this version better anyway!

"Mrs Officer (Munchi Club Rmx)"

Lol, I love cutting up horrible songs and fuck it up. But to be honest, I probably liked this song back then. And as I recall it was pretty fun to make. A lot of choppin' and re-aranging the beat in the first part, just to introduce the 2nd part which is poured with the influence of Laidback Luke's 'Be' beat. I remember when I heared that track just to be mindblown by the progress, beat and originality without losing track of that club recognition.

Matter of fact, I even made a video for this haha. I used to do that a lot, taking the original video and remix it for the remix!

"Puta Cabrona"

Taking that synth from that 'Whatever You Like' track and using Lorna's
'Puta Cabrona' vocal and just Baltimorizing the shit out of it.
I kinda like that word - Baltimorizing... FUCK YEAH!

"Shake That"

Here I was still learning the progress of club tracks I guess and even in this promo you can hear it slowly getting better, which is pretty fucking awesome to hear after 2 years.

This track revolves on 2 simple things - the beat and the Lil Jon vocal.

The beat has something interesting going on though it was an attempt to mix Baltimore Club with Bubbling, but without compromising one or the other. So they basicly switch off till the end when it goes all out Bubbling with sirens and alarms.

"Say What"

I downloaded a shitload of samples, and was really hyped about it lol.
So I made this real quick.

"Ik Ben Vandaag Zo Vrolijk"

This is my favorite cartoon without a doubt. Alfred J. Kwak is a fuckin' boss. It's just a simple Baltimore Club edit of the title song which says
"Today I'm really happy". I even got an offer of those annoying Jamba commercials on tv that they wanted to put this out on that shit 😭. It got so far till the point that we were mailing with the manager of Herman Van Veen to make it happen LOL. I'm so glad it didn't though, a fun track should remain a fun track.

"This Shyt Right Here"

My first Youtube hit! Haha! One of my favorite comedy skits of Katt Williams sampled to Baltimore Club. But its the video what does it though, lol! It had my friends crackin' up so I decided to upload it back then.

"Shut The Fuck Up"

After the success of the first Katt Williams track, I decided to make another one. Haha!

"Imma Get Medieval"

From the famous quote of Pulp Fiction, I added a shitload of arcade sounds to it and this awesome ass drum sample chopped up. And in the end Lil Jon fucking up the whole thing to another level lol.

"Tengo Una Punto 40"

The bonus track and last track of this promo is a mixture of oldskool Reggeton, Bubbling and of course Baltimore Club. Probably my favorite on this promo. I had so much fun making this track and especially when I noticed that it all blended together perfectly!

I just find that oldskool Bubbling deserves more attention...
It's forgotten man, without the world even knowing it...
